Monday, June 27, 2022 –Azimio One Kenya coalition has advised singer Kevin Bahati to postpone his parliamentary bid for Mathare seat.
The coalition today settled on Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party candidate, Anthony Oluoch, who is also the incumbent.
Speaking on the matter in Nairobi, Secretary General Edwin Sifuna argued that it is normal for a coalition to agree and settle on a candidate depending on the strength of each.
He noted that Oluoch emerges stronger on the ground than Bahati but promised to push Bahati into another assignment in their Azimio government.
“Our colleagues from Jubilee will be presenting their candidates from eight constituencies and those from ODM will present some from eight constituencies.
“Zoning was done perfectly even here in Mathare we have agreed that its an ODM zone. We only have one candidate in Mathare and that is Anthony Oluoch, this young man called Bahati is my younger brother and we will talk. I will make sure that we find him another position within the Azimio government,” said Sifuna.
Supporting Sifuna’s sentiments, Public Service, Youth And Gender Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Rachel Shebesh asked Bahati to emulate MP Tim Wanyonyi who had to drop out of the Nairobi gubernatorial race for the larger picture.
She reminded Bahati that he is not yet in the league of Westlands MP Wanayonyi and, therefore, this ought not to be a big deal to decide.
