Wednesday, December 7, 2022 –We will not be seeking any permits to hold our public rallies and meetings. Azimio la Umoja leaders have told off Interior Cabinet Secretary CS Kithure Kindiki.
Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang who was addressing this issue on Citizen Tv last night Tuesday, told off Kindiki who had asked Raila Odinga to provide the State with his schedule of activities for security to be provided.
He also faulted Prof Kindiki for directing Azimio la Umoja team on how to conduct themselves during their rallies.
“This is not a favour, it is our right guaranteed by the Constitution and the people of Kenya so the Interior CS should not brag that he has given us permission to demonstrate,” Lawyer Kajwang explained to Waihiga Mwaura of Citizen Tv.
Speaking elsewhere on K24 TV on Tuesday December 6, Vihiga Senator, Godfrey Osotsi, stated that whether Government will allow it or not, their Azimio rallies will go on as planned.
“We will have the rallies whether the government likes it or not it is because it is provided in the law.
“You do not need a license to hold a rally so we are not giving the president our itinerary,” the senator remarked.
He asserted that anything that is found in the Constitution cannot be stopped with anybody even by the government itself.
The two were reacting to the Interior Cabinet Secretary CS Kithure Kindiki’s latest orders that Azimio must provide their schedule of activities for appropriate security plans.
This is after President William Ruto issued a directive to the CS to plan for enough security during Raila’s Kamukunji event.
Raila, Karua, and Kalonzo Musyoka, on Wednesday December 7, led their troops to Kamukunji Grounds where they expressed their displeasure with the way the current regime was running the affairs of the country.
