Thursday, March 16, 202 –Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and colleagues in Azimio la Umoja have asked the Directorate of Criminal Investigation DCI to investigate Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his threats to deal with Raila Odinga.
Addressing members of the fourth estate on Thursday March 16, Sifuna and Opiyo Wandayi pointed out that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is on record threatening to deal with Raila once and for all.
“Should Raila Odinga so much as catch a cold on Monday, the person to be held responsible is none other than Ruto and Gachagua,” Sifuna declared.
In his address yesterday Wednesday March 15, DP Gachagua promised to use government machinery to silence Odinga whom he accused, together with his father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, of creating disturbance in the country for over 60 years.
“We have a job to do. This old man has created chaos for almost 60 years, together with the father. The time to deal with this old man is today so that he can go forever,” Gachagua threatened.
But while briefing the media on Thursday, March 16, Azimio said there are plans to harm their leader or his supporters during the Monday March 20 demonstrations.
Additionally, MP Opiyo Wandayi warned employers against denying their staff the chance to participate in the Azimio peaceful protests.
Wandayi claimed that the employees had the right to take part in what he termed as their national duty.
“They should release their employees and allow them to participate in their national duty. The media, of course, will be on duty,” Wandayi said.
On Tuesday, March 14, Mr. Odinga declared, though against the law, that Monday, March 20 is a public holiday that should be observed by everyone in Kenya.
However, President William Ruto on Wednesday, March 15, asked Odinga to ensure that the protests remain peaceful or he be held responsible for any damages caused on properties and lives.
