Friday, March 8, 2024 -Embakasi East Member of Parliament MP Babu Owino has declared self an Azimio principal.
Speaking on KTN Tv today Friday March 8 morning, the vocal lawmaker explained that, with the exit of their party boss Raila Odinga from local politics, he(Babu) will quickly replace him in Azimio.
He argued that any Raila’s exit from politics means new leadership should be on board! adding that he is preparing to join the Azimio special table that currently compromises Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya and Mr. Kalonzo Musyoka.
“Today if Baba decides to quit politics, let me make it clear here that I will join the big table in Azimio.
“Is either they agree to work with me or not. But if they don’t, I will also not work with any,” he stated.
The youthful lawmaker, either, noted that, currently, he is among the few popular leaders in the country and, due to this, he cannot remain quiet on the benches as other leaders pretend to run Azimio.
“I am known across the country. Even your grandmother back home must be knowing the name Babu Owino,” he quipped as he told Emanuel Mwashumbe.
His remarks following the announcement by Mr. Odinga that the Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party will not weaken just because he(Raila) is moving to the African Union AU platform.
Days ago, Odinga listed former governors Wycliffe Oparanya and Ali Hassan Joho as the able men behind the wheel and who have what it takes to run the largest political party in Kenya.
