Babu Owino Leads Kenyans in Bailing our Blogger Wanjiku

Wednesday, September 13, 2023 –Embakasi East Member of Parliament MP Babu Owino has led other Kenyans of goodwill in raising money to bail out Political blogger Silvance Abeta commonly referred to as Wanjiku HSC.

Wanjiku, as he is referred to as on Twitter and other social places, is popularly known to defend the opposition wing in Kenya.

He was arrested on Friday after reportedly publishing misleading information on both Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.

“Silvance Abeta, the individual behind the parody account Wanjiku HSC and a former digital strategist for Governor Evans Kidero, was arrested after a tweet targeting Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. He had said Riggy G wants to kill Ndindi Nyoro, according to my DCI sources,” fellow blogger Cyprian Nyakundi claimed on Tuesday.

Speaking on the same, the accused confirmed being picked by the DCI police officers from his Nairobi residence before finding himself behind the bars.

“I was picked up by DCI officers from my apartment at Elmwood Heights on Friday. The complaint is DP President Rigathi Gachagua. I’ve been charged with publication of false information,” he stated.

He is required to raise at least sh 50,000 to secure his bailout from Muthiga Police Station with MP Babu Owino raising the first sh 15,000.

Other well-wishers have also added their support and by Wednesday September 13, he had managed to receive about sh 23,629.

The blogger is being represented by his lawyer whom he identified as Emmanuel stationed in Nairobi City and who is mandated to receive the contributions.

“Good morning fam? I’m still held up at Muthaiga Police Station please bail me out by sending your contributions to my advocate Emmanuel. Any amount sent will be updated on this platform,” he updated the public.

He is booked under the name of Silvance Abeta at Muthaiga Police Station where he has spent three nights; until he pays the bail fee.

The plea took place yesterday Tuesday September 12 at Milimani Law Court No. 5 with the ruling happening next day in the morning.

On 26th September 2023, there will be a scheduled mention in court Number 5.
