Thursday, June 24, 2021 -Residents of Kiambaa Constituency today woke up on sad memories of the Eldoret Kimbaa Church massacre that saw locals of Kikuyu origin burnt live in a church.
According to sources from Kiambaa, unknown persons hanged a large banner along a busy road in the area and on it was Deputy President William Ruto and a woman who was captured in 2007 wailing as her entier family were burnt live in the church.
The banner was written with a short message that seemed to warn residents against voting in the United Democratic Alliance UDA’s candidate John Njuguna into Parliament.
This development brought the bad memories of 2007/8 post poll elections skirmishes that saw a Church by the name Kiambaa torched to ashes amid countrywide violence.
Though it is yet to be clear who was behind the banner, guesswork points at DP Ruto’s opponents in the forthcoming by-elections where Jubilee Party wing is facing off with the splinter group UDA.
The election slated July 15th will see Kiambaa Constituency elect their new MP following the demise of Paul Koinange who died from Covid-19 related complications.
Another by-election will also be taking place in Muguga Ward to replace the late MCA Eliud Ngugi who died in March while undergoing treatment at the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital.
