Friday, May 27, 2022 –Seems Orange Democratic Movement and United Democratic Parties may share spoils in Kakamega County following latest opinion poll released by Mizani Africa.
In the latest research findings, former Ketraco boss and ODM gubernatorial candidate Fernandes Barasa has now overtaken Senator Cleophas Malala in the race to succeed Governor Wycliffe Oparanya who is just an inch away from becoming next Treasury Cabinet Secretary.
Mr. Barasa now leads with 48% while Senator Malala has garnered only 42 points despite having been leading all through.
The wave has tilted in favour of the Azimio candidate after DAP-K withdrew Lugari Member of Parliament Ayub Savula from the contest as part of their coalition spirit.
Savula would therefore be named the running mate for the ODM’s Fernendes; a move meant to ensure an early win for the Raila Odinga-led Azimio la Umoja coalition.
On the other side, former Kakamega County senator Boni Khalwale is showing great signs of a political come back with a high 61.4% victory followed by ODM candidate Brian Lishenga who is struggling with a paltry 35.2%.
The polls were conducted by Mizani Africa between dates 24 and 26 May 2022 with a 1,068 sample size.
