“In a call with Kenyan President Ruto, Sec Blinken emphasized the importance of reducing tensions and ensuring security services demonstrate restraint and refrain from violence,” Miller revealed in a statement.

“The U.S. will remain a steadfast partner of Kenya’s government and people as they address economic challenges.”

The call was made by the U.S Secretary of State Anthony Blinken who spoke of the need for Kenyan security agencies to stop using too much force when dealing with the peaceful rioters.

Government has therefore said, after the withdrawal of the Bill that had raised tension in the country, it will now look for alternative ways to meet its demands.

President William Ruto on Wednesday June 26 conceded defeat from the young men and women who have been piling pressure on his administration to halt the Finance Bill 2024 that was widely described as ‘punitive’.

Also, on the front line in disparaging the Bill, were human rights activists, NGOs and other stakeholders which joined the Gen Zs on the streets.

Atleast, there young men died from the clashes that saw the police swing into action in their attempt to quell the riots that had escalated to the Parliament.
