Friday, November 18, 2022 –US-born billionaire Bill Gates has announced a new drug for combating HIV Aids in Africa.
On Thursday November 17, the tech mogul who is in the country for a series of support programmes, said he has a drug that he will be introiducing to Africa to curtail the marauding virus.
Terming it as the ‘next generation drug’, the Microsoft Inc. founder noted that the drug will be able to protect a person for two months and another six months.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation co-partner, who was addressing in Nairobi on Friday November 18 afternoon said his main mission is to wipe out the virus from the continent of Africa.
He urged Kenya to be among the higher uptakers of the newly-found drug so that others can also learn from them.
“We have a next-generation product that will be out in the next year or so which is of 60-day protection and another of 6-month protection.
“We do hope that there will be a higher uptake of that, in that it will stop HIV infection,” he announced.
The new drug, if taken on a daily basis, would reportedly protect anyone from contracting HIV, according to the tech mogul.
He was saying this just hours after marketing the Genetically Modified Orgasms GMO crops to Kenya.
