Saturday, March 5, 2022 –A concerned Bishop from Meru today had to stop Senator Mithika Lunturi from misusing the pulpit by attacking rival politicians.
In a prayer breakfast at CITAM Church in Meru County on Saturday March 5, the reckless senator started his speech well before veering off the rails to attack ODM Party leader Raila Odinga whom he described as a serial elections loser who never admits defeat.
This saw the principled Bishop stand for a point of correction and warned the lawmaker against converting the pulpit into a political rally.
The foul-mouthed legislator seemed to aim his verbal attacks at Mr. Odinga accusing him of being the one behind all the post-election unrest in the country.
He pointed out the many instances Odinga refused to agree with elections outcomes of 2007, 2013 and 2017.
“People have been fighting because there is an individual who does not accept results once they are announced by the IEBC,” he said.
The remarks provoked the presiding Bishop, who quickly moved to the pulpit and asked him to be in order if he wanted to complete his address.
“Thank you very much senator. As I mentioned a little earlier, as a church, we try to minister to people from different political parties without creating any sense of animosity.
“Whether you are in UDA, ODM or Jubilee, you are welcomed here. You need to feel comfortable here that no one is alienating you,” the bishop clarified.
Senator Linturi was recently cleared by courts after Cohesion and Integration Commission had accused him of stirring hatred in Rift Valley Region during their Kenya Kwanza rally.
