Sunday, March 27, 2022 –Deputy President William Ruto has reacted to coup’ claims made by his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House on Saturday
Ruto who was addressing his supporters in Kilifi County today Sunday March 27 described the allegations as wild and misdirected since the person he expect to be blamed for plotting to topple governments should be Raila Odinga.
“You must be confusing me with your project.
“I want to say without any fear or contradiction. I want to ask our friends, please, respect those of us who campaigned for Uhuru Kenyatta and made him president,” Ruto said.
Though struggling to name and blame Uhuru directly, Ruto said the propaganda is aiming at dividing the nation in factions what is a bad direction some leadesr are taking this country.
“Even if you don’t want to support me, stop idle talk and propaganda. Stop dividing Kenyans. How can William Ruto impeach someone he put in office?” he started.
The reports about Ruto’s plot to remove Kenyatta from office emanated from the Saturday State House meeting where the head of State chaired a meeting that saw over 3,000 elders from the ‘Mountain’ attend.
Mathioya MP Peter Kimari would then leak out what had transpired at the State House; what Ruto’s team did not take lightly.
Kimari told the Standard that Uhuru narrated to them what Ruto had planned to do against his administration. That he had approached Odinga so that together they could eject him from office using numbers in Parliament.
Further, Uhuru told them how his deputy in 2017 used to fuel opposition protests around the country and at the same time inciting Uhuru to use force against them.
Among the elders Kenyatta was addressing include Kiama Kia Ma, Kikuyu Council of Elders, church leaders and elected leaders.
