Wednesday, May 10, 2023 –Blow to Coastal-based controversial pastors Ezekiel Odero and his counterpart Paul Mackenzie after the State suspended their churches from the official register.
Homenews.co.ke has today Wednesday May 10 learnt that Ezekiel’s New Life Prayer Center and Church has been canceled for 30 days same to Good News International Ministries that was founded by Paul Mackenzie.
Registrar of Societies Jane Joram made this confirmation to the Senate Ad hoc committee investigating the Shakahola controversy.
She also confirmed that more churches out of 40,000 registered religious organisations will be expunged from the official register of Societies should it be established that they were going against the law in discharging their spiritual mandate.
For now two weeks, the two churches have been under investigations for the Shakahola cult in which more than 110 people starved themselves to death so they could go to Heaven to meet with Jesus Christ.
Others, post-mortems revealed, were strangled and suffocated. They were all buried in mass graves.
Government Chief Pathologist Johansen Oduor confirmed to the public through his findings that, as some victims died from pangs of hunger, others were physically assaulted to their death before being thrown into mass graves at Shakahola Forest.
