Friday, February 10, 2023 –Court has barred former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu from taking over his role at the Nairobi Rivers Commission NRC.

This is after the Law Society of Kenya LSK and Transparency International Kenya TIK challenged his recent appointment in court.

They challenged his suitability to hold public office following corruption cases he has been fighting in court some which are still pending.

This ruling against Mr. Waititu was delivered on Friday 10 morning by Justice Hedwig Ong’udi

The ruling by Justice Ong’udi has complicated Ruto’s move to appoint his United Democratic Alliance UDA ally who helped him campaign during last general election campaigns.

This appointment saw LSK march to the court on January 24 seeking clarification on whether the politician was fit to run any public office after he had been impeached.

The LSK and Transparency organization argued in their court documents that once someone is removed from an office, he or she should not be re-elected or appointed any other time.

And in Waititu’s case, he was impeached from office in 2020 following claims of mismanagement in Kiambu County.

He was the second governor who succeeded tycoon William Kabogo.
