Tuesday, July 30, 2024 ––United Democratic Alliance UDA Party founding members have ousted Cleophas Malala and replaced him with Lawyer Joe Khalenda.
UDA “founding members” today Tuesday July 30, declared Mr. Khalende as UDA secretary general ousting Cleophas Malala, whom they accused of running down the ruling party which was formed on the premise of uniting the country.
The new Sec Gen Mr. Khalenda announced that Malala was nolonger recognised as the party official and that he should not be allowed to conduct any business for the party because the changes will be taking effect from today.
“He is nolonger the secretary general of UDA Party,” stated Khalenda.
Malala being against government of National Unity
He accused Malala of being against the formation of the broad-based government despite their party leader President William Ruto calling for country’s unity.
“He has been on the fore front against the formation of broad-based government. He is nolonger the sec gen of UDA Party. I will be taking over as sec gen of ruling party from today,” announced Mr. Khalenda.
He added that the ruling UDA Party is now focused on going back to its members who believe in the Bottom Up economic approach.
Lawyer Khalenda said the party was not started to benefit a certain clique of individuals at the expense of supporters across the country.
Malala was accused of running down the once vibrant party that today should be having a national outlook because it is in power.
The former senator was also pointed out as among the few individuals who benefited from party appointment despite having contributed no votes in the last election.
Malala attacks government Over development
Speaking a day ago, Malala remarked that government appointments were not benefiting their community and, therefore, unity is not crucial for the region.
“It is not proper to think that when am appointed or Natembeya is appointed, all Luhyas are satisfied. People cannot eat unity when the cost of living goes up every day,” he told residents of Western region adding that it is time to take stock of what the national governmnet is doing for the people of Western.
Reacting on the same, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale described Malala’s party positionin the party as “easy come easy go’’ and wished him well.
Malala’s woes started months ago when he accused some individuals of hacking the UDA Party social media platforms making it hard for him to conduct party business as usual.
