Breaking: Ruto Unveils Rigathi Gachagua as his Running Mate

Sunday, May 15, 2022 –Kenya Kwanza coalition has unveiled MP Rigathi Gachagua to be William Ruto’s running mate ahead of the August 9 general elections.

The announcement made on Sunday May 15 by their flagbearer Dr. William Ruto had on Saturday delayed after parties within the coalition failed to agree on who between Mathira Member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua and Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki was best suitable to deputize Ruto.

And while making the much awaited announcement today Sunday May 15, Ruto described his running mate as an excellent professional and a man with ability to deliver fantastic results in the office of the DP if given room.

On Saturday, there was witnessed a daylong standstill at the DP’s Karen residence that ran into the late night without signs of any white smoke.

At some point during the Saturday impasse, Kiambu gubernatorial candidate William Kabogo who shortly came out of the gate for a brief break could be captured telling members of the press that several meetings were ongoing inside the compound and that he couldn’t speak on behalf of any.

It was not until around 1AM that UDA Party spokesman Hussein Mohamed came carrying his laptop to inform members of the press that the naming exercise will officially be taking place on Sunday May 15 by 11AM.

“The running mate issue was also extensively discussed. We are happy to announce that we have a decision as Kenya Kwanza. A decision has been reached and will be officially communicated to you on Sunday,” Hussein told the press at night on Saturday.

But this announcement still left so many grey areas with journalists not sure what time they should be availing themselves at the venue on Sunday despite having spent the whole Saturday outside Ruto’s gates.

Deadline for naming running mates is tomorrow Monday May 16; a day that Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance will also be naming their running mate.
