Thursday, March 28, 2024 –A video about Broohurst International School in which a female student was caught on camera molesting another has continued to cause great panic and mixed reaction around the country.
In the video clip that has left most parents in panic over safety of their children in the school, a girl can be seen landing heavy slaps on another while, at the same time, asking her to stop something. This video depicted a dire situation in most international schools where reports of bullying are rampant.
“Have you heard, have you heard again,,, again have you heard?” the female bully student can be heard charging at another who looks helpless.
Minutes later on the same Wednesday March 27, the school administration, through an official letter signed by the principal Helen Nduhiu, blames the video on those sharing it online and, further, goes ahead to threaten filing a law suit against such individuals.
In the one-page long statement by the institution’s principal, it doesn’t seem to address the issue of bullying in the school but blames “extortionists” for the viral malicious content.
She also warns that sharing of minors’ video in that manner is not acceptable and that the school had opened a legal recourse over the malice.
“We are also aware of a group on malicious online individuals who have decided to use this particular one video and photo as a means to extort money from the school. We have, therefore, instituted the necessary legal action in order to bring these people to full glare of justice under the Kenyan law,” the statement read, partly.
“Kindly refrain from sharing content in regard to minors who are presently not your children of next of kin”.
The administration letter noted further that the school had started a process to address the happenings in the clip by asking the parties involved together with their respective parents to show up so that to find out the solution and way forward.
Brookhurst is among the few international schools in Nairobi Kenya where affluent families take their kids for both primary and high school education.
It is located in Lavington Estate.
