Thursday, May 11, 2023 –Police are in hot pursuit of a suspicious Bungoma Pastor linked to Malindi’s New Life Prayer Center and Church founded by controversial Pastor Ezekiel Odero.
Making this confirmation today Thursday May 11, Bungoma County Police Commander, Francis Kooli, said the pastor who runs the branch of Pastor Ezekiel New Life Church went missing immediately he had learnt that he was being sought for arrest.
Homenews.co.ke would later establish that the said church linked to Pastor Ezekiel is located at Sikata area on the outskirts of Bungoma Town.
When the police arrived to storm the church now at the center of controversy, worshipers were found conducting a noon service.
But the pastor who presides over the services, instead of surrendering to the police, kept dodging the authorities all day long.
“When called on his phone, he said he was not around before switching off completely.
“If he does not show up, we will be forced to use other means to get him,” Mr. Kooli who is leading the exercise stated.
The police commander also seized the opportunity to caution land owners in the county against leasing land to suspicious religious leaders before authenticating the church’s registration certificate.
A source identified as Daniel Anzata, told Nation Tv that the Ezekiel’s Bungoma branch which has less than 10 congregants was established just two months ago.
Police have since summoned the owner of the worship branch with an ultimatum to surrender as soon as possible amid intensified crackdown against rogue and cult preachers operating around the county.
As this was taking place in the county, another questionable preacher by the name Yesu wa Tongaren was undergoing investigations over the same reasons of indoctrination of followers.
It would shortly emerge that he had been detained by the police.
