Thursday, June 30, 2022 –Azimio la Umoja rally in Kisii County came to an abrupt end when teargas sounds started emanating from the air at the time Raila Odinga’s running mate Martha Karua was addressing supporters.
The Thursday June 30 incident occurred when Martha Karua and Raila Odinga’s wife Ida together with Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege had pitched camp in Kisii County to rally residents behind Raila Odinga ahead of August 9 election.
Homenews.co.ke had a privilege of scrutinizing the video from the area and we established that this happenings caught both Martha Karua and Ida Odinga unawares.
Ms Karua could be heard seeking to know what was happening as she was still grabbing her microphone in her right hand. She could be heard struggling to understand the whole situation.
“What is happening..lets go,” she was heard saying.
Her bodyguards, on the other hand, were also busy whisking her to the back of the podium and down into her car as the rally came to a premature stop.
The chaos started when supporters of Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati and those of Chris Ongwae started clashing.
Arati is chasing for Kisii gubernatorial seat.
