Saturday, October 12, 20214 –First daughter Charlene Ruto has defended her father President William Ruto from Kenyans calling for his removal.
Speaking through her X media to day Saturday, she assured Kenyans that President Ruto had no plans of resigning soon despite the significant pressure.
“He (President William Ruto) will stay in the State House. Nothing personal,” she commented.
This was a direct comment from a random online user who challenged her on when her father was planning to leave office.
“We are just trying to have President Ruto and you out of State House. Nothing personal,” commented the Kenyan.
Seeking to know why someone would target them, she quickly dismissed allegations that her philanthropic organisation was being funded by Kenyans eyeing favours from her father.
And to set the record straight, Charlene asserted that she would still be able to run her organisation even if Ruto was not his father or the commander-in-chief.
“You have no clue about the people and organizations who support me. If my father wasn’t President, I would be,” Charlene argued further.
The heated social media debate intensified hours after the first daughter flagged a post alleging that she had been appointed to a plum government position.
The fake Gazette Notice dated October 11, falsely claimed that the president had appointed his daughter as Chairperson of the National Mining Corporation for three years effective October 2024; what Charlene downplayed.
“Guys…c’mon…seriously?? Let’s Stop Fake News! And looks like whoever is pushing this doesn’t know William Ruto. He believes in giving equal, fair and transparent leadership opportunities to as many Kenyans as possible, so trust me, this he would not do.
“Of all the things, mining? Not even youth? Or agriculture? Just so that you know it is fake! I didn’t wait for anyone to give me an appointment or position, I am creating my path Plus…my name is Chelagat, not Chelangat,” Charlene further clarified.
Charlene’s job clarification came hours after the Ministry of Mining and Blue Economy had refuted giving the job to the first daughter.
In its official statement, the Ministry flagged the Notice as fake and shared the authentic notice which showed Mr. Joseph Kipchumba Lagat as the new appointee.
