Saturday, February 25, 2023 –President William Ruto’s younger daughter Charlene Ruto joined First Lady Rachel Ruto in meeting with US First Lady Dr Jill Biden at Statehouse, Nairobi.
Speaking following their meeting, Charlene confessed that FLOTUS exuded an aura of warmth and motherly kindness as she spoke on fostering partnerships between Kenya and the US. She also met US Ambassador Meg Whitman.
The US First Lady landed in the country on Friday February 24 through the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport JKIA and was received by her counterpart Mama Rachel Ruto and EAC CS Rebecca Miano.
After alighting from the official military chopper, the Executive One Foxtrot plane, Jill was met by two young girls who handed her a beautiful bouquet.
And commenting on her tour minutes later, the First Lady observed that coming back to Kenya was influenced by past memories when she first came in the country.
This is now her third visit in the Kenya but the first one since becoming US First Lady following her husband’s victory a couple of years ago.
“I have many incredible memories here. In fact, I told my granddaughter Naomi Biden that coming here changed my life and that’s why she wanted to join me,” she said.
Jill, the Professor of English, said she was glad to be back, adding that she could not have asked for a warmer welcome.
Ms Biden is paying her attention on the current drought and hunger ravaging the Horn of Africa.
