Tuesday, February 1, 2022 –An opinion poll conducted today by Deputy President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto, resulted into a landslide win by Raila Odinga.
Charlene took to her Twitter handle to ask her followers to state between his father William Ruto and Raila Odinga, in whose hands would they be safe and many Kenyans picked on Mr. Odinga.
She conducted the opinion poll on Tuesday February 1 afternoon in a move pundits claimed she wanted to pupularize her father ahead of August 9th polls.
“In whose hands are you safe?” she posed the question with a photo of her father first and Raila Odinga second.
By 8.34 PM, over 5000 users had participated in the voting exercise and, interestingly, 4,000 had picked on Raila as the safe person Uhuru should hand over power to while only 1400 said Ruto is safe.
“Your dad has just begun the journey! He’s the new RAO; he’ll have to vie several times to stand a chance. Probably he’ll be president at 80. Ni hayo tu,” Abubakar Sidiki remarked.
Raila and Ruto are the two key rivals in the August contest that will see the winner take over power from the retiring President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Kenyatta prefers Raila Odinga’s candidature as opposed to his own deputy William Ruto. He recently threatened to spill the beans in days to come on why he believes Raila fits his bill.
In his next tour scheduled around Mt Kenya, the president is expected to launch a charm offensive against his deputy. He will use the opportunity to tell his backyard why Ruto is a risky leader to succeed him.
