Tuesday, January 17, 2022 -President William Ruto has sensationally claimed that there were attempts to abduct and murder top IEBC commissioners.
Speaking in a Tuesday January 17 convergence with various independent commissions, Ruto revealed that, to the run-up to the 2022 general election, certain State agencies had been instructed to accomplish dirty mission in their effort to subvert the will of the majority.
Ruto charged that IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati, commissioners Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu almost lost their lives in the election.
“We know that there was a direct attempt to abduct Wafula Chebukati and murder him so that the commission would be paralysed, or a compliant commissioner takes over and subvert the people’s sovereignty,” President Ruto stated.
Ruto has, therefore, thanked the commission for standing their ground to defend the Constitution.
“We salute with great admiration the steadfastness, integrity and leadership through example that Wafula Chebukati provided at the IEBC,” he said.
On August 15, drama ensued at Bomas of Kenya where presidential results were being prepared.
Ruto would finally be declared winner by IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati.
This happened despite the fact that four IEBC commissioners led by Vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera had dessented.
