Chelugui Defends his sh 993 Million Wealth

Saturday, October 22, 2022 –Mr. Simon Chelugui has declared his wealth at a whopping sh 993 Million.

He stated this during the ongoing Parliamentary vetting exercise in which he is eying to move to the Co-operatives and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development Ministry following his recent nomination by the head of State.

CS Chelugui who was facing the National Assembly Committee on Appointments on Saturday October 22 morning, revealed that most of his wealth comes from farming and real estate.

He has previously served as CS Water then transferred to Labour docket before President Ruto nominated him to lead the Co-operatives docket in the new dispenastion.

“I have a dairy plant, residential home, and rental houses in Nairobi. All these amounts to sh 993 million,” Chelugui stated.

And reacting on the declaration, his colleague Kimani Ichung’wah noted that whatever the CS had tabled before the committee was not logically correct.

“I was trying to cumulate what you have tabulated here and it adds up to about sh 652 million,” Ichung’wah interrupted.

The Kikuyu MP further asked the speaker to seek more clarification on how the CS was sh 796 million in 2018 and today he is something else.

Many CS nominees who the president picked for his government have remained a concern to many Kenyans after they declared their billion worth of wealth.

For instance, Amani National Congress ANC Party boss, Musalia Mudavadi, pegged his wealth at sh 4 billion while Dr. Alfred Mutua declared his networth as sh 420 million.

Furthermore, ICT CS nominee Eliud Owalo told the Moses Wetang’ula-led panel that he is worth a staggering sh 645 million.
