Thursday, December 2, 2021 –Dagoretti North legislator Simba Arati is embroiled in war of words with a local church in Kisii where he was last Sunday for a fundraiser.
In his latest Thursday December 2 rant with media stations, Mr. Arati confirmed that the church leaders had returned his sh 100,000 contribution but were yet to clear the rest of the balance amounting to sh 200,000.
He wants the church leaders, whom he believes are being pushed by his political rivals, to faithfully refund the entire amount if they are serious they don’t want anything to do with him.
“I gave out money to several leaders in the church. Why then are they claiming to have returned part of the money? Why are they not returning the rest, which amounts to more than Sh300,000,” he told Nation.
In the Sunday November 28 service, the youthful MP was also treated to unnecessary drama leading to scuffle that finally saw him ejected out of the church.
“When the noise persisted, I was requested by one of the priests to step out to allow for normalcy to return. But a section of the faithful followed me out and demanded that I address them. But I declined,” he added.
MP Arati is preparing ground to vie for the Kisii County gubernatorial seat in 2022 a move he has attributed to calls from residents who want him to be their next leader. He will be vying on an ODM Party ticket.
