Saturday, May 18, 2024 –Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s laud absence in public domain now the second week has continued to attract attention from members of the public.

NTV has shared rare details on why the second in command has been missing in action despite a weeklong busy schedule in the William Ruto’s government.

The media has reported that, ostensibly, office of the deputy president communicated with the Kenya Aviation Authority KAA asking for transport means to Bomet County but it is said that at, that time, the answer was, politicians were nolonger allowed to board military choppers.

Attempts by the DP’s office to find alternative private means to take him to Bomet also saw the airways company demand upfront payments making Gachagua’s life even more complicated. This far, also saw the second of command almost miss Murang’a event that his boss was present.

According to the NTV expose, the DP who was missing the tea event attended by KTDA officials, saw his boss William Ruto order Head of Civil Service Felix Koskei to step in for Gachagua despite the fact that Gachagua had earlier been mandated to oversee tea farming and trade affairs in the region.

Furthermore, NTV has established that the second in command missed the meeting that brought together diplomatic agencies from the United Nations. An event held at the Statehouse Kenya.

As if that was not enough, Deputy President Gachagua was also conspicuously missing in the Eldoret pass out parade which was presided over by President William Ruto.

And mid this week, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni who was in the country met with President William Ruto, also had time with Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and later seen off by both Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

NTV has claimed that attempts to get any explanation form the DP’s office over this issue has not been fruitful either and that the DP could be at home and not ready to speak on the same for now.

Gachagua and President William Ruto have had a cordial working relationship since the day they took power from Uhuru Kenyatta.

During Kenyatta’s time, Ruto as the DP to Kenyatta also faced a fair share of such relationship challenges especially during the tail end of their second term.

His faction would then link this to the Uhuru-Raila Handshake saying it had bad intentions.
