Friday, August 23, 2024 –Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly MCA Robert Alai has continued with his onslaught on Embakasi East Member of Parliament MP Babu Owino.
In a new statement of Thursday August 22, Alai sought answers on why Owino was inciting university students to go on strike when his achievements as a member of Parliament remains underwhelming over five years now.
“Apart from demonstrations, tell me if this particular MP has any motion, statement, petition or bill to his name since getting elected 7 years ago.
“Show me his performance in the parliamentary committees,” Alai remarked following Owino calls for national unrest in universities.
The vocal ODM Party MCA further took a swipe at the youthful MP whom he wondered whether he knows his duty at the Parliament.
“I doubt if he understands even the role of an MP”.
Owino had threatened that he will mobilise masses of learners through all student leaders in universities to make sure the current funding model is rejected.
“I will do everything and anything at my disposal to safeguard education of learners across the country regardless of where they come from.
“I would, therefore, advice President William Ruto to cancel the new funding model for colleges. Failure to I am personally going to mobilise students in all universities in the country to go on rampage,” charged MP Owino.
He argued that he is where he is today because of the old funding system what he also wants other Students to benefit from, as well.
“I am where I am because of education and, therefore, I will equally demand the same for every student,” remarked the Embakasi East MP.
Owino was addressing this shortly after accompanying hundreds of student leaders to the Statehouse where they were hosted by the President.
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was also present in the function and had an opportunity to address.
