Friday, January 26, 2024 – Court postponed judgement of Joseph ‘Jowie’ Irungu and Jacque Maribe in the murder case of businesswoman Monica Kimani to March 15.

“It is wrong to say that the second accused person has never been absent in court. There is a time she was unavailable while in Uganda and we listened,” the judge told the defence lawyers.

Despite the anxiety from the parties, the judge urged the parties to understand the reasons behind the adjustment to mid-March.

“But let take time and make clients understand the reason for adjournment.

“The judgment is ready and I was ready to deliver it but there was no provision allowing virtual delivery of the ruling,” she stated.

Appearing to take issue with Maribe’s lawyers, the judge argued that if she was sick or home in bed, this ought to have been communicated in time so that it remains clearer to all parties and the public.

Maribe did not show up in court today citing illness.

The two are accused to have collided to murder a Nairobi business lady Monica Kimani in 2018 when the case also started.
