Wednesday, May 17, 2023 –Court sitting in Nairobi has cleared city Dj Fatxo or Laurence Njuguna of any murder crimes against Jeff Mwathi.
On Wednesday May 17, the court established that the accused had no direct links to the cause of death of young Mwathi who was found dead in his compound.
Fatxo’s lawyer, Duncan Okatch, reported that the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions ODPP agreed with the recommendations from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI that there is no evidence to pin the city DJ on the murder crime.
Instead, the ODPP wants the said murder to be probed through a form of inquest which the office believes would unravel this puzzle, conclusively.
“It is clear that there is no single shred or iota of evidence to suggest any remote criminal culpability by our client or suspicion thereof.
“In fact, it is very clear that our client was not even at his house at the material time that his friend, Jeff Mwathi met his death,” partly read the statement from the lawyer as seen by Homenews.co.ke.
Reacting to the case, the accused DJ Fatxo lauded the DCI for the vindictive findings, and said, this would help give him a new lease of life.
His lawyer noted that the client who had been unable to go on with his usual businesses, will now have to start again now that he had been cleared of any crimes.
“He is very thankful to the DCI and ODPP for exhibiting great standards of professionalism, independence and focus despite the clearly orchestrated public and social media machinations to obfuscate the truth and propagate extremely damaging outright defamatory lies and versions with the sole aim of besmirching and injuring our client and his reputation with a consequential heavy detrimental effect,” the statement read in part.
Lawyer Okatch added that, his client had consciously forgiven all those who propagated the false and malicious information following the murder incidence.
Earlier, DJ Fatxo had written to the DCI requesting that the investigation findings be supplied to him so that he can prepare his defense in time.
