Wednesday, July 12, 2022 –On Wednesday July 13 was a reprieve for the former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko after the High Court in Mombasa ordered the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC to include his name on the ballot.

In a three judge bench siting in Mombasa on Wednesday, it was found that the electoral body IEBC erred by violating the rights of Mr. Sonko as a Kenyan with political ambitions.

The bench cited Articles 20, 27, 38 of the rights of anyone who wants to vie for any seat and found that Sonko was still fit to participate in any leadership contest.

This was happening as the ex-governor also sought to bar both the IEBC and his party leader Kalonzo Musyoka from replacing with another candidate.

The development in Mombasa is coming barely a day after teh flambotant politician was seen together with the head of State in Nairobi’s Embakasi’s tour yesterday Tuesday July 12.

Though for a long time Sonko had never seen eye to eye with the president, it turned out a shocker when he reunited with Uhuru and even promised to support his leadership and the entire Azimio la Umoja.

“I would like to thank President Uhuru Kenyatta for the time I have been outside government I have seen he has done development from building hospitals and roads and that is good work.

“I also urge residents to make sure they pick all Azimio candidates into office,” Sonko said.
