Wednesday, June 8, 2022 –Governor Alfred Mutua today afternoon received a big blow after Nairobi High Court dismissed his request to leave Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition.
The High Court delivered the ruling today Wednesday June 8 citing lack of procedure on the part of the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party leader who has since been asked to exploit all dispute resolution mechanisms to be able to exit the pact.
Governor Mutua ought to first pursue all dispute resolution avenues within the coalition before heading to the court for justice.
Mutua and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi left the Raila Odinga-led Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition on the basis of lack of transparency and trust from the coalition boss.
The two would then go public ranting about the opaque agreement terms which Azimio had forced them to sign without providing all the necessary details.
“We were only given the last pages to sign and that is it,” Mutua claimed a few weeks ago before calling it enough.
The agreement, however, do not allow member parties to exist unless it is six months before election and, as it is now, time is not on their side to leave.
The two – Kingi and Mutua – are already campaigning for William Ruto through their Kenya Kwanza alliance with hopes that Ruto will save them from political oblivion staring at them.
