Friday, September 29, 2023 –Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba has acquired orders temporarily halting her suspension from the Senate.
After going to the court last week seeking the orders, High Court in Nairobi on September 29, dismissed the decision by the Senate over her six months suspension which was extending upto next year.
The court’s statement indicated that the suspension was temporary pending a hearing and determination of her matter.
Orwoba argued that the Senate’s decision was unfair as she had not been granted enough opportunity to mount her defense against the panel decision.
The Parliamentary Committee on Powers and Privileges PCPP recommended her suspension over claims that a senior clerk at the Senate sexually assaulted her.
The court case will be mentioned on October 25 when she will finally know her fate.
Last week, Senator Edwin Sifuna of Nairobi County accused Ms Orwoba of not substantiating her sexual assault claims despite having been called upon to do so.
