Thursday, October 5, 2023 –Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has invoked the image of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in the latest Cabinet reshuffles announced on Wednesday October 4.
Reacting shortly after President Ruto made changes in his Cabinet, Kuria who has been at constant loggerheads with Deputy President Rigathi Gachgua, shared his(Gachagua) image on the Twitter handle; in what pundits think implied betrayal.
On Thursday morning, falling short of adding a caption, Kuria just shared Gachagua’s photo standing on the presidential dais and left it at that for readers to speculate.
Codded social media posts
His codded communication following drastic reshuffles that saw him moved from the lucrative Trade and Indistralisation docket to Gender and Public Service Ministry initially under Aisha Jumwa.
As if that is not enough, Kuria also posted a Kikuyu song on his social media and, listening to the lyrics, he is indicating that God will deliver him from the current leadership tribulations.
Kuria and Gachagua are not new to tantrums, weeks ago after Kuria had ‘arrogantly’ told off Kenyans over the rising cost of fuel, DP Gachagua called him out for being arrogant.
“You do not address your employer (Kenyans) with arrogance. Do so with humility and decorum,” DP Gachagua warned Kuria.
The CS had repeatedly asked Kenyans who had issues with the price of fuel in the country to dig their own fuel wells at home.
The former Gatundu South Member of Parliament would follow this with fumbled tweets he made on Gachagua saying some people suffer from ‘inferiority complex’ condition.
After learning the weight of this post and the harm it could cause, he immediately deleted it from his public timeline and, instead, brought in another sarcastic apology to ‘Gachagua’ and Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale.
“I have since been advised by people like Boni Khalwale and his master that the statement was incorrect, insensitive, and arrogant. I am made to understand that the price will come down,” he the September 20 post read.
DP Gachagua on Moses Kuria
Days later, DP Gachagua shrugged off any fallout with the CS and went ahead to take photos together in a business meeting held in Kajiado County.
“Continuous engagement is our mode of governance. This evening, in the company of my younger brother, Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, we had an engagement with businessmen from Kajiado County. We discussed challenges facing them in their businesses,” Gachagua stated on September 26.
He would also assure Kuria that no one will sack him from office because he is their son who cannot be tormented under his watch.
CS Kuria was also facing challenges in his Trade docket over strained relations with the United States.
