Thursday, September 9, 2021 -Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has hinted at joining active politics after his tenure as a Cabinet Secretary in Uhuru’s Jubilee Government.
Addressing a Nyamira meeting yesterday September 8 during the upgrading of Ekerenyo Subcounty Hospital to a referral facility, the CS made assurance to his people that he is in government to stay beyond 2022.
He also revealed that his future is keenly guided by both President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake partner Raila Odinga.
“I want to assure my Gusii community that I am not going to let them down when it comes to political succession in this country.”
“I am right in between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake co-principal Raila Odinga and I know my space is right in between them,” he noted.
Matiang’i also added that in future the Gussi Region must have their own presidential candidate who can give the region directions.
“I want to tell Kenyans that the Kisii community will be right at the center where the national cake will be shared and we will not be watching from outside,” he argued.
A couple of weeks ago, Members of Parliament from the area had advised the CS to try his hand in active national politics so that the region could also boast of their own.
