Wednesday, February 9, 2021 -Another key cabinet member in the Uhuru Kenyatta’s government has resigned from job to venture into politics.
Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary CS Sicily Kariuki on Wednesday February 9 resigned from office a day after several other cabinet members also left office to pursue their political ambitions.
MS Kariuki addressed the press on Wednesday February 9 where she announced to have officially left job to start campaigns for Nyandarua County gubernatorial seat in the August general elections.
“This follows months of listening to the people of Nyandarua who have come to trust me, my concern for them, my vision and dedication to accelerate development in the great County of Nyandarua,” CS Sicily stated.
The CS said that she was still a member of Jubilee Party and she would be vying on the same ticket to win the seat.
She showed optimism of wrestling the position from the incumbent Governor Francis Kimemia who is also seeking to defend it.
Her resignation comes a day after other CSs and government officials resigned as stipulated in the elections law.
Among the names already out is Devolution CS Charles Keter who resigned on Tuesday, February 8 to start his campaigns for the Kericho County gubernatorial seat on Ruto’s UDA ticket.
