Wednesday, June 15, 2022 –Senator Johnson Sakaja will have to contend with the decision by the Commission for University Education CUE which has rejected his Ugandan Degree paper.
The revocation occurred after prolonged deliberations on the authenticity of the Degree whose owner Johnson Sakaja is unable to explain how it came by.
Sakaja’s only defense line has been that he has been using the Degree all along and that he was cleared in 2017 by the IEBC after presenting the same papers.
“These are the same papers I have been using to vie every time. This is now political witch-hunt because looking at me you realize I am educated. Do I look like I didn’t go to school?” he recently told UDA supporters in Nairobi.
CUE, on Wednesday June 15, rejected Sakaja’s Degree which he claims to have acquired from Ugandan Team University.
“The Commission for University Education has received material information about the authenticity of the degree you presented from Team University that will require further investigation to ascertain the validity of the said the degree.
“Consequently, in accordance with the CUE’s recognition procedures, we hereby revoke the recognition of your degree – Bachelor of Science in Management (External) from the aforementioned university,” read the letter from the Commission addressed to Sakaja.
This official revocation is coming barely a day after a Kenyan-based lobby group sought to know the legality of the Degree. It wrote to Ugandan Minister for Education, Janet Museveni, compelling her to find and produce details about Sakaja’s education from the institution.
Sakaja was supposed to faceoff with Azimio la Umoja’s Polycarp Igathe in the August 9 elections.
