Saturday August 7, 2021 -Court has found out that Mr. John Mwangemi is holding two top State offices now for the second year.
The revelations were busted by Commission for Human Rights and Justice CHRJ Executive Director Julius Ogogoh who went to court to challenge the appointment.
“Currently, I’m the Ambassador to the Republic of Djibouti and I’m responsible for Kenya’s diplomatic relations with Djibouti,” Mwangemi responded to the petition filed by Ogogoh.
The defendant, apart from his ambassadorial job, was asked to step in as Kenya Ports Authority Managing Director pending an appointment from Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yattani who was to pick someone else substantive for the job.
Papers seen by homenews.co.ke confirmed that Mwangemi’s appointment was skewed and did not follow the laid down procedures. He was not among those shortlisted for the job but ended up being picked by the employer.
According to Mr. Ogogoh, Mwangemi did not even meet the required threshold for the office and his appointment was therefore unconstitutional and perhaps politically motivated.
The plaintiff Mr. Ogogoh therefore wants the cabinet secretary to immediately revoke Mwangemi’s appointment or be held squarely responsible for the ill.
However, Ogogoh’s request to suspend Mwangami was thwarted as Justice Brian Onyaga from the Employment and Labour Relations Court ordered that he should continue serving in that capacity at the Kenya Ports Authority KPA.
This parastatal position remained vacant following the arraignment of Mr. Daniel Manduku over graft related charges. He had served for a period of less than two years.
