Wednesday, August 21, 2024 –President Ruto to launch Hon. Raila Odinga’s candidacy for the AU Commission Chairperson position on August 27.
The announcement was made by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi who had hosted the campaign secretariat today.
Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga, on his part, announced his retirement from local politics as he heads to the African Union Commission campaigns.
“I am happy that the Kenyan government has come forward to make me a candidate. We have submitted our candidacy as required by the AU. From now on, it is all systems go,” Raila Odinga, Former Prime Minister
He confirmed that, today, was meant to hold a preparatory meeting towards the launch of his AUC campaign on 27th August 2024.
“Our commitment to the African dream of prosperity, peace, unity and stability for all is intact,” noted Odinga while addressing the press.
He said, should he be elected, he will be offering his counsel and support wherever needed at home and that despite his switching, Kenya should not cease to exist.
“Am going to begin to work for the continent once elected in February next year.
“At the moment, am going to the campaigns but Kenya will not cease to exist,” passionately noted Mr. Odinga.
Present in the preparations meeting was Prime Cabinet Secretary Muisalia Mudavadi, Blogger Pauline Njoroge, Carolyne Karugu, Ps Singoei Korir among others.
