Thursday, February 29, 2024 –Daystar University in Nairobi has explained, in its response to the Ministry of Education, that all students are admitted with full knowledge of its Christian background.

Speaking in Parliament yesterday Wednesday February 29, Cabinet Secretary CS Ezekile Machogu added that the administration of the university denied that release of students’ marks is conditional on attendance of the faith services.

“The university has explained to me that any student being admitted are processed with full knowledge that the institution is a Christian-based school where every one should adhere to such values and spiritual guidelines,” the school noted.

On the LGBTQ agenda being practiced in the school, the university management detailed that such actions are prohibited and punishable.

“The school does not condone LGBTQ activities at all,” Machogu further shared.

CS Machogu was responding to claims raised by Nyali Member of Parliament MP Mohamed Ali who submitted details on the university he claims is frustrating the Muslims community.

“I, today, asked Education Cabinet Secretary Hon. Ezekiel Machogu to respond to my questions touching on key unethical and dishonorable acts, currently entrenched in Daystar University academic regulations that infringe upon the constitutional rights and freedom of worship for Kenyans,” stated Mohamed Ali.

The House Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, in reaction, directed the CS to immediately investigate the claims and to even personally visit the institution with a team from the Ministry to facilitate the said investigations.

Further, The CS has been directed by the Speaker to subsequently appear before the Departmental Committee on Education on the same issue, and for the Committee chairperson to report back to the House with a detailed report on the findings, in two weeks time.
