Friday, September 29, 2023 –Two notorious suspects have been arrested by detectives for fraudulently obtaining millions of money from members of the public.
In a Friday September 29 report from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI, the duo was obtaining money from unsuspecting job seekers on the pretext that they would assist them in securing better job opportunities in government.
David Thuo Njehia and Kyalo Kilonzo, were arrested along Ngong Road, after defrauding unsuspecting members of the public more than sh 880,000.
Posing as employees of the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company NWSC, the duo has been taking advantage of desperate Kenyans seeking employment by promising to offer them jobs in various government agencies and State corporations.
Detectives pounced on the two moments before they received an additional sh 100,000 from a gullible jobseeker who had been promised a plum permanent and pensionable position at the Nairobi Water and Sewerage company.
Upon interrogation, it was established that the miscreants are habitual fraudsters who were wanted by detectives based at Dandora after they previously jumped bail for a similar offence.
Many unemployed Kenyans have lost money in million after falling prey to rogue employment agents and agencies with the latest case having happened in Uasin Gisu County in the infamous scam dubbed ‘Finland Scholarship’.
Parents and children lost thousands of monies each after being promised education abroad in a highly-guarded scheme that former area governor Jackson Mandago was also mentioned.
Mandago would later be pressured to issue a statement on the matter which he later promised to settle with the affected families.
The matter attracted the attention of President William Ruto who toured the Region and assured those who had lost their hard-earned money that his government will follow up the matter.
Since that time, locals have kept mounting protests around Eldoret Town in their efforts to get back their cash.
