Saturday, November 20, 2021 –Law Society of Kenya President Nelson Havi has urged members of the public to ignore anything said and done by Director of Criminal Investigations DCI George Kinoti.
Havi now claims Kinoti is nolonger allowed to carry on any business at the Directorate after the court convicted him for four months period which he should start serving at Kamiti Maximun Prison.
Judge Anthony Mrima sentenced the DCI boss to four months in jail after he failed to obey a court decree which required him to hand back confiscated firearms belonging to billionaire Jimi Wanjigi.
Addressing the matter on the Tackle Show, the LSK president said the DCI must have to abide by the ruling by quitting office and presenting himself to the Kamiti Maximum Security Prison before its too late.
That upon the lapse of the seven days period given by the court, Police Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai will, by law, have to swing into action and arrest him.
“As we speak Kinoti is a convict, he has no moral authority even to put on a suit. He must shave his beard, his hair and he must put on the white striped attire and remain in Kamiti”.
“Anything he does is effective null and void but the IG of the police will not enforce the warrant against Kinoti. This is something that must alarm us.” Havi remarked.
And while comparing Kinoti with his predecessor Ndegwa Muhoro, Havi noted that the latter was a law abiding man who never crossed the red-line as it is the case today.
“I remember when he (Muhoro) was directed by Justice Luka Kimaru to come to court and explain what efforts the police have made towards ensuring that Willie Kimani is addressed, he came to court and he passionately sat in court for four hours,” Havi recounted.
The LSK boss wondered why Kinoti was complicating a simple matter that only required him in court to explain why the firearm was yet to be surrendered to the owner.
Media has since learnt that Kinoti on Friday, instead, walked to Milimani High Court Judicial Review Division seeking to withdraw the ruling but, unfortunately, this was immediately dismissed.
