Wednesday, July 3, 2024 –The Directorate of Criminal investigations DCI has published photos and names of wanted rioters.
In a face list shared today on their social handles, the DCI issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the young men and women who have been holding protests against the government. It demanded them to surrender immediately to the nearest police station.
“The Individuals whose images/photos appear below are wanted by the police for their unlawful activities during the anti-finance bill 2024 demonstrations,” stated the DCI in part.
The police have also shared a hotline number where anyone who sees them can report this to the nearest police station for action to be taken.
“We therefore advise them to report to the nearest police station for further police action. Information on the whereabouts of any of the suspects may be channeled confidentially to the anonymous #FichuakwaDCI Hotline number 0800722203 or the police hotline 999, 911,112,” also added the statement.
The arrest coming just two days after President William Ruto warned that, his administration was going to hunt down criminal elements in the ongoing anti-Finance Bill riots.
Though President Ruto said the protests were peaceful, this, he believes, was invaded by criminals who must be punished.
The commander-in-chief was speaking at the Statehouse where he, days ago, hosted a handful of journalists from both the mainstream media and online.
