Saturday, August 6, 2022 –Two top presidential candidates Raila Amolo Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto are staging their final rallies in Nairobi today ahead of the general election to held on Tuesday August 9.
Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza brigade are camping at Nyayo Stadium after finally securing the venue on Friday August 5 through a court order; while Raila Odinga of Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition is staging his final rally a few kilometers away at Kasarani Stadium.
The election laws in the country stipulates that campaigns must end three days to the election day what saw Chairman of the electoral commission IEBC Mr. Wafula Chebukati issue the August 6 deadline for campaigns.
Raila, Ruto, Wajackoyah and David Mwaure are expected to square it out on Tuesday August 9 contest.
According to the latest stream of opinion polls from various research firms, Raila is top with 53 percent followed by DP William Ruto at 45 percent, Wajackoyah and lastly Mwaure.
Raila’s running mate is Martha Karua, Ruto picked on MP Rigathi Gachagua and Wajackoyah of Roots Party combined with Ms Justina Wamae.
