Thursday, May 5, 2022 –Trouble continued to build up in the courts today after the Judicial Service Commission JSC on Wednesday May 4 asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to form a tribunal to probe the conduct of Judge Said Chitembwe.
The Commission, through Chief Justice Martha Koome, wants the Head of Sate to constitute a commission that will investigate Chitembwe over legal malpractices.
Chitembwe is being accused of, among other crimes, receiving bribes from complainants in order to bend cases in their favour.
“Accordingly, the Commission resolved to send the Petition to His Excellency the President for his further action in accordance with article 168(4) of the Constitution,” Koome said.
Last year, former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko was first to fix the judge through secretly recorded clips showing the latter receive huge chunks of cash in his office in order to bend justice through issuing compromised judgments in a certain land deal.
Today, a WhatsApp conversation emerged between the embattled judge and his colleague Justice Aggrey Muchelule in which the two are engaged in a heated exchange over setup claims.
In the conversation, Judge Muchelule is challenging Chitembwe to carry his own cross and stop begging for rescue. He also told him to stop issuing more threats the way he has been threatening Registrar of Judiciary, Anne Amandi, with sex tapes.
On the other hand, Chitembwe is accusing Muchelule of betraying him since he had assured him that, through the JSC, he will not be punished.
It is on record that both Muchelule and Chitembwe were last year arrested by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation DCI over bribe-related crimes. Nonetheless, they would shortly be released.
