Thursday, June 22, 2023 -Crippled City Dj who was allegedly shot by Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino at a Nairobi club in 2020, now says he did not see him (legislator) with a firearm.
Real name Felix Orinda, in his capacity as a defense witness, while giving his account in court on Thursday June 22 said Owino was in the club but not armed.
“I was injured by a bullet but I don’t know from which gun…I just found myself in a vehicle to hospital…I came to find out that Babu Owino was supporting me and as a friend I expected my friends to look after me,” Evolve said.
Making a virtual testimony from his bed, the DJ said he does not know what happened to him as he only found himself in an ambulance.
He can only recount having been shot and injured by a bullet on that day.
On whether they are friend with MP Owino, the entertainer told the court that indeed they knew each other and that the MP has since been footing his medical bills among other essentials.
“Did you see Babu Owino with a gun?” Defence lawyer Duncan Okatch asked DJ Evolve, to which he responded saying; “No, we were just having conversations.
“I was injured by a bullet but I don’t know from which gun…I just found myself in a vehicle to hospital…I came to find out that Babu Owino was supporting me and as a friend I expected my friends to look after me.
“I received medical care…my utilities and general well-being was taken care of…I’m giving out this testimony voluntarily,” he confirmed to the court.
The Embakasi East legislator’s private protection officer and personal assistant Edwin Otieno also gave his testimony, telling the court that – before the day of the incident – Owino’s firearm had mechanical issues.
The MP last week informed the court that he had already spent sh 58.6 million treating the DJ.
