A Kenyan Politician never discusses issues affecting mwananchi once they retreat back to Nairobi and their lavish offices. Don’t be lied to.
In the rallies, they will pretend to us on how they really can think more than each other on our matters. They even set us up against each other, but when they move away from crowds, they drink milk tea with buttered bread in the morning and in the evening they meet at Osteria Del Chantie to break Italian whiskey together.
During that time, no one tries to remember a villager back home. They toss up drinks with each other as they discuss their own issues businesses and how they will do this and that deal next week. They laugh at their constituents and even go as far as ridiculing them on how stupid and silly they are.
And when they(politicians) have a chance to meet with the president, they utilize that time to pitch their own deals and not issues affecting the commoners.
I am happy with Kakamega Senator Dr. Boni Khalwale for pointing out in the Senate today that Kenya is at crossroads.
“We must not betray the trust conferred to us by the people with deception; leadership must be anchored in integrity and unwavering commitment to the welfare of society and just government of men,” he stated.
Khalwale reminded his colleagues in the Senate that there are areas like in Turkana and Marsabit where a mother and her child sees water from a distance. And when you happen to donate a small bottle of water to them, they share with a big emotional smile that tells more on how they have been thirsty for the commodity for months.
One bottle of water lights up their faces the whole day.
