Monday, May 29, 2023 –Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has reacted to the recent incident where the former Mungiki sect leader Maina Njenga attracted more than 500 supporters who came to protest his arrest at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI Headquarters, Nairobi.
Speaking on Maina Njenga on Sunday May 28, DP Gachagua promised not to spare any signs of return of the once killer Kikuyu gang whose leader, he added, is well known.
The DP was speaking at AIPCA Town Cathedral Thika in Kiambu County when he recounted the huge loss that was brought around by the illegal sect some years back.
Gachagua who appeared ready to faceoff with the once most-feared sect leader, mentioned Maina Njenga as the key figure from Mt Kenya who has been manipulating pooryouth to make himself rich and powerful.
“It is a few people taking advantage of young people. That sect leader is who used to receive all the illegally collected money was being taken to.
“As we speak today, he has nine posh homes, in Lavington, Kitengela, Nyahururu and many other parts of Central Kenya. We are watching,” DP Gachagua stated.
Gachagua also seized the opportunity to caution the young people especially from around their Mt Kenya Region from resorting to criminal activities in the name of looking for livelihood.
“I want to talk to our young people, please don’t be misled to start those activities because the government will not allow even for a day, and it will be rough, I can tell you,” he stated.
The second in command appealed to parents, church leaders and area elders to talk to the young people in Central part of the country so that to ensure they do not get indoctrinated into the outlawed sect.
