Monday, January 3, 2022 –United Democratic Alliance UDA Party Member of Parliament Benjamin Washiali has resigned from politics.

The Mumias East legislator who has been in office for more than a term, finally assured his constituents that he was done with politics and that his main assignment will be to deploy his grassroots resources in making sure Deputy President William Ruto takes power in 2022.

MP Washiali took to his social media pages on Sunday January 2 to confirm that he will be dedicating his energy in helping the second in command seize power from Uhuru.

He used the opportunity to thank his people in Mumias East for allowing him enough time to lead them.

“I want to say it’s been an honour serving the People of Mumias East, with gratitude I appreciate that you placed your hope and aspirations in me for the last 15years, I have served diligently, I’m grateful for the development strides we’ve made. Therefore come August, I will not be running for office,” he stated.

He however advised his people to make sure the next person they elect in replacement has high level integrity and can serve them dedicatively.

“People of Mumias East come August, elect a leader who will not only better the best that we have achieved this far, but also be tenacious and zealous in their service delivery.” he remarked.

The UDA vocal MP who has been on the frontline supporting Ruto’s ideologies first hinted at ditching office in 2017 when he was dragged to court over electoral malpractices. His fierce opponent filed a petition seeking to oust him from office but, unfortunately, Washiali won the case.
