Monday, March 7, 2022 –Deputy President William Ruto has again made a sharp about-turn over general election rigging.
Speaking while on his first day of tour in the United Kingdom UK, Ruto assured his charges that he was in full control of elections and that not a single vote will be stolen from him.
Ruto who days ago complained in the US that the State was planning to rig him out in favor of Odinga, has now said he has alot of confidence in elections process and that it cannot be easy for anyone to steal his vote because of the many years of experience he has gained throughout his political and leadership life.
He also said that his life in government had enabled him to learn a lot about systems of government.
“Okay let me give you my word, this vote will not be stolen. Look at me properly, I am not the type of person anybody can steal votes from,” said the DP before breaking into laughter to the crowd’s applause.
He stated that after winning the Msambweni, Juja and Kiambaa seats in recent by-elections, it was still very easy for him to trounce Raila Odinga in the August 9 polls.
“The only thing the Handshake team can do is maybe to cause violence. However, even on that, we shall not allow it to happen,” he added.
He has therefore challenged Odinga to come out clearly and assure everybody that he will not protest the outcome in case of a loss or a win.
He also took issue with those who have blamed him for fighting the government while on his 10 day tour abroad.
The second in command touched down in London from UK on Sunday March 6. He was received by Ambassador Manoah Esipisu.
