Sunday, July 17, 2022 –Deputy President William Ruto today met with a section of young Gengetone artistes in Nairobi where he pledged to strengthen their art from next year when he is in office.
Speaking with them on Sunday July 17 morning, the second in command mentioned that his focus when he finally takes charge of the country will be to make sure all young men and women are supported to realize their full potential in the society.
“We have a comprehensive plan to transform the creative industry to create jobs and opportunities for our talented youth,” he said.
“We urge the youth to support that plan by voting for Kenya Kwanza,” Ruto said.
Among the artistes he met at his residence today include Jeshi Jinga (Shembeteng), Kartelo, Modesto, Iano Ranking and Tana Legends Music Group.
This is not the first time artistes are meeting with the DP, last year, Hip Hop star Kalighraph Jones led a huge delegation of musicians to the same venue where they also agreed on the way forward.
In the delegation was Felix Odiwuor or Jalang’o, popster queen Nadia Mukami, Genge godfather Nonini among several others.
