Monday, March 6, 2023 –A Meru man who had stolen a laptop and some sh 19,000 from someone’s personal car turned mad shortly after running away with the cash.
Kariuki 24 who likes hanging around shopping centers in Meru saw a car left open as the owner was doing some evening shopping and decided to pick a Lenovo laptop worth sh 84,000 and a bunch of notes sh 19,000 which had been left on the passenger chair in the car.
When she returned from the shop, found the laptop stolen as well as the cash, tried to ask the security guard on who could have picked the items, sadly, he also had no clue what could have happened.
“I have lost a lot of cash and my office laptop. It is sad that these valuables just got lost from this place a few minutes after I had parked my car here.
“This is not the first time I am losing money here. Last time I lost sh 15,000 at the same spot but I did nothing. This time around, I am going to take a step higher. I don’t believe in police because they will not help me,” she threatened.
She was then seen driving away but very angry of what had befallen her; and next day in the morning, Kariuki who had stolen the items, returned at the same place naked and looking like a mad man. He was also holding the laptop as well as the money intact.
The owner would be called by residents to come and pick her items. She came 10 minutes later and took away her items. She was accompanied by a man who performed some traditional gymnastic – poured some liquid on the hands of Kariuki and left. Kariuki became well again.
